Well.... with ammo getting so expensive these days, I set off to find a good long gun to go plinking with at a cheap price.

Enter the GSG-5.

In 8 more days, Ill see if it holds up to how highly its regarded on the internet. And with them selling about $590 some places online, and it being $455 brand new locally at my great indoor range/ gun shop, I had to pick it up.

Ill post more pics then! Does anyone else have one of these MP5 replicas, or the AK47 version? They are imported from Germany where they are made by ATI of Rochester, NY.

Have you ever shot the 9mm full auto version? Shoots like a dream at close range. 50m and less that is.

Well if you make it to VA, let me know. I know a place where they have one. They also have a Grease Gun, UZI's and a couple other full autos. $55 gets you the rental and 100 rounds. It's like Christmas. haha

Ive been debating on getting one of those for a while. They look nice.

I shot one once and they shoot amazing at close range.

I could be wrong but i heard this rifle was discontinued. get them whall you can.

Thats what I heard. Something about copywright infringement or something like that. Who knows.

Yeah it's fun for sure. So much so, I was thinking about buying a pre-may 86 tranferable one....then this diesel crap started :D

Did a one session clinic at a local range with a SWAT instructor that showed us how to really shoot it. Best part of the class was the close range (like 7 yards or something) mag dump. He said if anybody could keep their group tighter than his, he'd give us something (don't remember what it was). I was pretty happy I came really close to doing that and he said, "hmmm.not too bad.":)

Those GSG-5s look like fun plinkers. Hope you like it.

I have a GSG-5 and it is straight up awesome. So much so that I was thinking of adding another one to SBR at some time in the future.

It is true after the first of the year, they will no longer be imported because HK sued GSG over copyright infringement. Part of the settlement was that they will no longer be sold. This was all done because HK is licensing a second party manufactured MP5 .22 cal. It will be made by Umarex (airsoft junk) and if it is similar to the Colt M4 .22 it will be a total turd.

I think that this gun is the most fun thing in my collection. I have about 500- 600 rounds through it and I can only remember 1 jam and it was getting really dirty. I ran 200 rounds of the CCi mini-mags first to break it in and now it runs awesome on the Wal-Mart bulk stuff. Get some mags while you can, the accessories like stocks and mounts and stuff are all interchangeable with the most popular airsoft MP5's so that stuff will be easy to get after the gun goes away.

I've put a rail on the top of the receiver and bought a $50 red-dot and it kicks some serious ass. Mind you it's not a real 9mm MP5 but who has $2k to buy a clone, or $18k to buy the real thing. Good purchase, you won't regret it.

So glad to hear!

Ive already ordered 4 additional mags for it and want to put a Picatinny on it and a red dot or some other sort of scope.

Crap, maybe I should get another one and just forget about it in original box in the safe :D
