Well yesterday was a pretty sad day around our farm with my mom passing, but late in the day the UPS guy showed up with my christmas present to me, and cheered me up quick. Im finally starting to build my own tool collection now. And from working on stuff for so long I knew a quality set of ratchets was key.

I ended up liking the Matco 88s and bought 5 of them.

1/2" Dr. 17" Locking Flex

3/8" Dr 12" Locking Flex

1/4" Dr. 6" Locking Flex

3/8" Dr. 5" Flex

1/4" Dr. 4.5" Flex (Backordered, not in picture)

And I also got a 1/2" Dr. 24" breaker bar.

And I wanted to see why these ratchets were worth 20 times more than others. So I took apart one of the farms $10 Allen 1/2" Drive ratchets and compared it to my Matco 88 tooth. Big difference.

Nice, first thing I did after I bought my truck was get a 36" 1/2 drive Snap-on breaker bar. Nice tools make the job so much more enjoyable.

I have a lot of craftsman stuff at home but mainly Matco at work and there's been quite a few times that I've had to drive to work and grab my matco ratchets when the crafstman just won't cut it. If I ever get my truck account down to zero ill buy another set for at home. They're worth the money if you do a fair amount of wrenching.

I use them everyday, and having the 88 tooth and flex head is awesome, because your never in a wide open space using them.

I did buy crapsman sockets, and I have to say their quality has gone down quite a bit but they still turn the bolt.

The 88's are very nice! I just bought a whole set of snap on 80 tooth flex heads and bought a 3/4" ratchet head with the 4ft handle. Makes breaking crank bolts and flywheel bolts a breeze.

i bought all snap-on stuff only cause the snap-on guy was the only one that came to my shop (dont know why the others wouldnt come, i bought alot and alwaysed paid more than the min on the truck). those 80 tooth ratches were one of the best buys, specially with a locking flex head.

Dude, I know exactly what you are talking about. My dad is old school retard, always would crap on me about the money for snap on impacts yet they are always being left out on the bench after he uses them. I doubt if I didn't buy impacts he would use craftsman chrome on everything. Ass clown doesn't even clean them or put them away.

EDIT just checked those out. Look nice and the price is great. Can get 3/8 and 1/2 drive sets for under $300

I have alot of sockets from them. Especially in 1/2" and 3/4" drive. Big sockets and even worse big wobble sockets are soo expensive on the tool trucks it will make you sick. GP stuff is very tough and comes with a lifetime warranty too.

Where do you buy them Travis? I dunno if we have vendor here in Reno so I may have to order.

The duosocket stuff is great, they are as thin as chrome sockets but made from impact steel so you dont have to worry about clearance issues or screwing your impacts up.

x2 Just got My M725 1/2" Yesterday. Lightweight and Peak torque of 1,200lbs, it breaks more bolts loose than the shops 3/4".

I have Crapsman sockets. Bought their 299 piece set. Cant beat it for the price, and they still turn the bolt out.
