new from Texas

hows it going? joined this forum a little while back, but havent posted much here just yet.. i had originally tried to pick up an 03 4x4 chevy, but things didnt work out, so i just kept plugging away looking for something with a duramax, or at least an engine someone could part with.

got lucky and found a used 03 engine a guy pulled outta his one ton dually to do a cummins swap. sold the engine to me cheap, and now im a happy camper LOL. dont know what mileage is on the engine itself, didnt really care because im going to go ahead and tear it down and start from scratch.

im originally a Cummins guy, been messing with them for a few years, all generations.. messed with a few Strokers too, mainly 7.3s and 6.0s, none of the newer engines tho.. getting bored with the Cummins, and have been after a duramax for awhile now. finally got one, and going to throw it in either my 84 camaro, or my 88 chevy half ton short bed truck...

looking forward to learning from you guys, and to tricking out this engine! :thumb:

you know, its kinda crazy, ive been after a duramax engine for awhile, and ive found 2 in my hometown in the past week! . lol, go figure! but anyway, just collecting parts to make this engine a complete one, and about to send off the injectors for some testing. then im going to go ahead and get the engine stuck in one of the 2 vehicles ive mentioned, and at least get it running... then i will most likely pull it back out, and start throwing the go fast goodies at it!

Not long. I just moved out in February this year. I had my truck then. Before that I had the biggest truck in town (other than the ford excursion). Lifted dodge ext. cab 1500. Real loud. Lol here is my truck. What is your name?

And not quite ready to start the project just yet. Trying to sell some old projects to fund this one lol. But I have collected just about all I will need to do the project.

I sent off 4 off the injectors to see what condition they were in. Found out the tips were done . So saving up to buy either some bigger tips, or just go ahead and pick up some remans..

Sounds good man! But zavalas has been closed down for about a year now. The original cook from there opened up his own little restaurant, called Nachos. It's a really good place to eat too

Ya that's what I heard. I loved that place. Will have to check it out next time then. You should come to Denton tx march 9th. Ill be there along with a bunch of other dmax guys on here.
