I own mostly built 05-07 6.0 powerstrokes which have been extremely reliable for the most part after studs which I do my own work and familiar with however duramax not so much, but last month I said what the heck ill try Duramax and bought a 2006 LBZ with 131k and so far not bad I have been fairly impressed besides the suspension components but oh well. I want to tow a 20,000 lbs with it this weekend, my 6.0's can pull it no issue but my question is i want to build the Allison in my truck so what is the best clutch kit to buy for good price that can hold i do a lot of heavy towing and I dont want to have to screw around with anything later on or mid trip.

I would sell it. Get into a accident pulling way more then the trucks rated for you will have a big lawsuit.

If the truck is stock and in good health, I wouldn’t worry about the trans. If you are trying to tow on a bigger tune then I’d start hunting.

As for towing over weight, if it’s a rv/toy hauler, I would t worry. If you are towing commercially, you will get dinged big time if your truck is not rated correctly

What he is saying is that your truck is not rated by the manufacturer to tow it. Neither are your fords.

Will they tow it? Sure. But like Ne-max said is it could be a problem in an accident.

Most DOT guys look at GAWR and what the truck is registered for anyway and don't really pay much attention to GCWR. As long as you have a big enough trailer to handle the load, I wouldn't sweat the weight rating thing.
