Haven't been on here much lately due to moving my fiance down from Brooklyn, taking her to her job interviews, looking for and buying a car, Christmas shopping, ect. But during all that I did manage to get another diesel in the driveway. She bought a 2005 VW Jetta TDI - a really nice metallic gray one with black leather and all the options. Already started to research how to add to the factory 100hp and 177ft-lbs and found headers, turbos, tuning, intakes, rods, and so on - and the prices aren't too bad. We already ordered her halo projector headlights and smoked bumper and marker lights and she wants the GLI body kit and spoiler for it, maybe some rims and tires. I'll try to get some pictures of it posted and will post updates of the progress.

It still ran like 14s though.

I really would like to have one though. Obviously not for the performance but rather for the looks and economy of it. I think they are dang sharp and the 40-50mpg don't hurt nothing but the gasser trash feelings. :joker:

Congrats! Good luck with the Jetta.

I've had nothing but horrible luck with VW recently. My wife's Touareg is a steaming pile of crap. It seams like something new breaks every week, and VW isn't willing to step up to the plate to fix most of the stuff. Oh yeah, did I mention that it is still under warranty. At least GM will go out of business standing behind their product.

It's a beautiful vehicle but that's where it stops, craftsmanship was really bad on the SUV's, and customer service is even worse.

Sorry about the rant, every time I see something VW it sends me into a rage and makes me wish I would have just ponied up for a proper German car.

I do have a friend with an 06 TDI and he loves it and hasn't had 1 problem.

Diesel Pilot - I think that VW should stay in the Golf/Jetta/Passat realm that they do really well in and leave the vans to Chrysler and the luxury SUVs to Porche.

Kelly's has an all black interior with heated leather seats, 6 disc MP3 in dash, moonroof, the whole bit. The black leather was one of it's biggest selling points over other TDI's we were looking at - you don't see black interiors much anymore. The first mod she wants is to make it "look cute" and that's why headlights and marker lights are on the way. She wants the GLI body kit and spoiler and then some rims.

For the my list of mods I think I'm just going to go straight to a turbo upgrade since it comes with a header and custom tuning from KermaTDI. Then theres injectors, intake and exhaust. I have a lot more research to do because I want to retain the mileage and I dont' want to exceed the limits of stock internals......... for now.
