ok thanks for your help any ways.... do you happen to know what problems they typically run into? I've heard injector failure??? is that true on a certain year or engine?

Ya I prefer the lbz put out of all of them. No emmissions crap, most power from the factory, 6 speed Allison vs the 5 speed in the 01-05 trucks, gear selector for towing, prefer the classic bodystyle and it gets pretty good gas mileage.

The lb7s (01-04) were the ones with the injector issues. The lly's tend to have cooling issues because of the intake mouthpiece which is easily fixable. Lbz don't really have any big issues at stOck power levels and the problems with lmms are the dpf which is also easily fixed

Thanks James! thats the kinda info I was looking for!! cuz I know thats what he is gonna ask me which one gets the best fuel mileage etc etc and tranny... he is pretty smart when it comes to vehicles he just isnt up to par on whats what, I mean I keep up with the diesel world pretty good and all these different versions of the Dmaxes confuse me

So an LBZ def sounds like the direction I should lead him towards
