Hey guys,

I'm new here and have been doing a little research on this truck. I'm hoping y'all can answer my direct questions without having to scour the threads. I found a 2011 Silverado with the LML, 60,000 miles for about 30 grand. I know that there are 4 special coverage warranties still valid on the truck. My questions would be that
1. Is this a good price for the truck? (This is going to be my first purchase of a diesel truck, and I am wary of the potential issues)
2. If I do go ahead with the purchase should I add a tuner and pipe?
3. I've checked the AutoCheck and it seems to check out, but are there specific questions I should ask the service technician?

Any comments and recommendations would be welcomed. Also I live in Louisiana where emissions aren't tested and the temperature rarely gets below freezing. Thanks for the help in advance!

That's a good price. I have a 2011 and the emissions equipment was nothing but a pain in the a$$! As soon as my warranty was up I deleted it and it has been problem free for the last 10k miles. Also need to be aware of the cp4 failures with them. I would delete it and do a cp3 conversion. Is it at a GM dealer? If it is, ask for the service records to see if the cp4 has been replaced.

Sounds like a good deal. Leave it alone especially if it still has warranty coverage. After that you should have a decent idea of any upgrades you might want to do.

Get under it and look at the chassis for abnormal rust from your flooding. Not sure where you live but i know some parts flood with salt water. Not saying it was under water but might have gone through alot of it to help or salvage a home.... glwb

I don't think flooding is an issue. I've lived here all my life and know where the truck stayed and it wasn't even close to the flood waters of 2016.

Also I will check with the GM dealer about extended warranties. However I was leaning towards a tuner and new pipe. But wasn't completely sold on the switch over yet.

Thanks for the comments guys!

Download a dash commander or similar cheap app for your phone and order a cheap OBD II port wifi thing and check the balance rates and see if it has any codes thrown. That is a good price. I'm from the same area and trucks seem to run a little higher here than everywhere else.

Still in the negotiation process as of today. Spoke to the technicians and they said the DPF code or anything related to it has ever tripped. Will update as I get more information. Really appreciate all the help guys!

Talked the salesman down to under 30k. Looking like I'm gonna go ahead and make the purchase. Going in for a test drive Wednesday.

Post some pics if you get it. Just to give your some reference on price my buddy is trying to sell his 11 with 135k for 35k. He's only had it listed 3 days and has gotten several calls on it.

Yes, they gave me 37 months or 37,000 miles for an extra $20/month powertrain and bumper to bumper. Really couldn't pass it up.

Update:

Had the truck for a week today, August 10th, had my Check Engine Light come on and the code was P003A, brought it to a local dealer and they recommended a turbo replacement. Thankful for the extended warranty that I purchased only a week ago. Now just waiting for the dealer to get their act together and get me back running.
