Very nice Josh! similar length and weight to my genesis.

Keep us posted on what you see for temps, grades you pull, speeds, etc. Im genuinely curious how the cooling system stacks up vs the old ones when pushing power and pulling heavy weight during the summer.

Definitely will do! You were running modded ihi and 483 correct?

correct. i ran a few different setups in compound. stocker/475, then stocker/480, then modded ihi/480, then modded ihi/483 with billet wheel and race cover. all big turbos were 96mm turbine on 1.32 t6 housing. 483 got a 1.15 housing after trying the 1.32 for a while.

Nice that’s what I thought! I’m beyond happy with this air setup. Later on if the motor gets built I’ll probably swap the 480 out for a billet 5 blade 485. But this setup does everything I want and more. Super responsive.

Need to get all my gauges hooked up and fuel cooler next.

no, thats tube and fin style. not very efficient at pulling heat away from the fuel. you want to stay with a stacked plate design.

Needs a better fan. Grab a jegs or summit brand stacked plate in the 12x12 or larger size, spend the coin on a nice spal fan that will cover the cooler but not be larger than it and run it.

I ran a b&m cooler with a jegs fan. Did pretty good but a spal fan blows those out of the water. Massive difference on the oil cooler I put together

Well towed it 100 miles back to my house tonight. Running 70 on interstate cruising 5th gear. About 1850 rpms 10-12psi boost. On the hills I down shifted it to 4th, I’m sure I could have pulled it in 5th but you could hear the engine load go up and I didn’t like lugging it. 4th gear pulled them great, the 480 was fully alive and singing. Ect went up about 10 degrees and hit 200-203 a few times. It would drop right back down to about 188 on the back side. 4th gear was seeing right about 20psi on the hills barely in the throttle. Fuel filters were dam warm when I got home. About 10 seconds with your hand on them is all it could take.

Here’s a screenshot running 5th gear, and 4th gear is pulling some hills.

James how much boost did you typically see in 4th and 5th gear? My fuel mileage sucks at 7.5mpg lol.

I overnighted one of them derale coolers. We are headed out Thursday for a camping/motocross trip. I’ll upgrade the fan to a spal here shortly. Hoping the cooler fuel will help with my fuel mileage a bit lol.

I finally got around to putting my turbo blanket on the 480 as well Saturday. Got home last night, could rest my hand on the blanket indefinitely. It was warm but couldn’t believe how well it traps that heat!

dont expect more than 8-9mpg even with the best tuning and keeping your foot out of it. Thats pretty much the mpg you get towing that kind of weight lol.

boost depended on hills. flat ground i think i ran around 15psi, 5th gear at 70 or 75 up the hills i could hit 50psi i wanted but on the biggest grades during the cooler months id hit 40ish psi in 5th gear. 4th gear id be around 35ish to maintain speed. My gate was setup to fully open at around 22psi so the big turbo would start coming in after that. Anthony had messed with it since and got it working even better he says. i want to say it opens even sooner now.

Yeah my boost seems a little low I was thinking. Hitting 40-50 did you have your foot pretty hard into it? I’m sure I could get it to make more boost but haven’t really put my foot into it.

Wonder if this is where that smaller housing on the 480 would help?

i wouldnt concern yourself with boost. watch your EGT's, if they are nice and low, i wouldnt even fret. id be in it pretty hard to hit that boost.
