Hey Mike, or anyone that knows, here's a quick question I've had on mind for a while. There's a big hill near my house that everyone like to race up, been like this since the 60's. Its kind of a local test to see how big your vehicles' balls are. Any way, there's a big bump about halfway up and I've noticed if I would hit the bump under throttle the trans goes into neutral or something. Is this normal and what is it? I've also had it happen over expansion joints on bridges sometimes too. I try to be real careful not to let this happen. Any info is appreciated.
Thanks.

Sounds like you are losing prime to the pump at the sump filter. Deep pan with filter lock would help. The new PPE deep pan might be your ticket as it needs no lock and has baffles.

Now dont think I'm stupid, well I kind of am but there is a place near me with a hump in the road sort of like you described but on flat ground not up hill. I can hit it under acceleration in high gear and it lightens the truck enough to spin the tires. At that speed I dont hear the tires spinning it feels like the truck goes into neutral and then back in gear. Maybe this is whats happening to your truck?

What you are describing is normal. When you lose traction the TCM will kick the Alli out of gear just the same as if your were at a stop in nuetral and brought the rpm's past 1200 and threw it in gear; it would do nothing. Just the tcm protecting the Alli.

I knew someone else had to experience this. The two other Dmax's that I'm around all the time have it happen too. Even my 8.1L would do it.
I figured it was some kind of safety feature, just needed to hear it from the experts. Thanks!
