I have been helping a friend with a 04.5 lly. The truck is bone stock and he has been having some trans issues.

At first the truck would only act up every once in a while. It always happens when the truck is first started and it throws a shift range inhibited message and the gear selector light on the dash would be flashing. The truck will not move at all in any gear. The truck does not set a CEL and there are no stored or pending codes. I told him to pull the main harness plug on the side of the tranny and see if it will move and it does. Which makes me think there is nothing going on with the internal hardparts or converter. The fluid level is good and its not burnt. I told him to change the spin on filter and the NSBU switch and see what it does. He changed them and the truck worked fine again for one day. Now the truck is back to acting up again. Some times he starts it and its fine and other times its dead in the water. You can sit there and start the truck 10 times in a row and maybe 6 out of 10 times the truck will not move. The gear indicator light is still flashing when it wont move so I gave him another nsbu switch to try and it does the same thing.

I have been told that it could be a stuck valve, bad solenoid or pressure switch. Just need some direction before I tell this guy to drop the pan.
