My youngest daughter (11) will be racing go karts next year.

The oldest one (17) is about as far away from performance as you could possibly be. She's not interested, doesn't care, and can't possibly understand why anyone would ever want to race a vehicle.

I tried to get her interested in a turbo/diesel Jetta or Bug. I just got the look.

She gets excellent grades in her Honors and Advance Placement classes and is going away to college in 2 years. I needed a dependable/safe vehicle that gets great mileage. Plus, it's her first car, I would hate to have beat up a new one. She wanted a little SUV cross over thingy so we settled on a 2006 Honda CR-V. We'll see how she does. If she takes care of it and doen't run into everything including the pace car, perhaps something better down the line.

She doesn't know it yet, but Santa is delivering it. :D

Guy,
What kind of Karts and where?
My Grandson started JR1 4cycle (Animal) last year and the local dirt track built a track for dirt karts a couple of months ago that I like to race on. FUN stuff!!!

It took a good bit of convincing to get my wife interested in the TDI Jettas and now she thanks me all the time for persuading her to get one. ~50mpg on the highway, very dependable, very little maintenance, room for 5 adults (no CC truck but more than what you would expect from a small car), lots of trunk space. I added some halo projector headlights and nice 18" wheels to make it different than the average Jetta and a little more sporty. We've put 30K on it in the last year with no problems.
