Its my first time playing with the tranny tune.

1. This first question is about shift times. I noticed the shift time throttle adjust on the 1-2 shift adds a bunch of shift time. I've got a very slow and clunky 1-2 shift at low speed part throttle. Can I safely remove the added shift time there to tighten that shift up?

It actually shifts so slowly, combined with the defuel, the the slack in the driveline loosens up and when it goes into second it works over the U-joints quite hard!

2. With my 35" tires sometimes it locks the TC in 5th too early and bogs. Is D5013 where I adjust this? Can I just change pattern A to have a bit more speed from about 62% down?

3. For wide open throttle, I want to lower the shift RPM a bit. Do I need to mess with the speed too or can I leave that alone?

4. What do I want to do the TCC apply speeds? It looks like it will never engage in second gear... do I want to change that? Engages in 3rd at >75% throttle. In 4th at 66-73km/h. And in 5th 66-85km/h.

Let me know what you guys think. Especially for questions 1-3. Those are things I would think would improve drivability quite a bit haha.

Messing with shift timing can be very hazardess to your trans, you run the risk of a tie up. I have done it some I took very small amounts out at a time but havnt messed with it in a long time.

Yes, D5013 is the where you adjust it. Yes you can adjust just pattern A.

Im not sure but I think you have to meet speed and Rpm for the shift, so you would have to adjust both accordingly.

4. What do I want to do the TCC apply speeds? It looks like it will never engage in second gear... do I want to change that? Engages in 3rd at >75% throttle. In 4th at 66-73km/h. And in 5th 66-85km/h.

In T/H and WOT it locks in second.

Hope that helps a little

Sweet man, thanks!. I was just looking at some of the stuff myself. I had a couple ideas that would have either made it drive like a complete piece or or bang gears pretty good. You haven't steered me wrong yet though so I'll wait for your tune haha.

Its actually been shifting excellent since I did some playing around the other weekend. Minor TBIQ and TLIQ changes made a huge difference.

What I was looking to do in TCM was lower the WOT shift points to about 3100rpm so that hopefully it doesn't get hung up like it sometimes does. I would just need to figure out how to correctly line up the speed with the rpm.

Also, wanted to raise the TCC apply speed in 5th gear around 60% throttle and down so that when I'm cruising with low throttle it doesn't just one two skip a few right into 5th and torque converter locked at 70km/h and then I basically gotta roll smoke until i get to 100. Needs to gain a bit more speed before it locks because of the 35" tires. I wanted to make a couple minor changes to the WOT stuff too, maybe I could find out why at full pinned that my torque converter sometimes unlocks for no reason. I believe this is what causes the shift hang up more so than the shift rpm.

I'll see if I can't just use the TLIQ/TBIQ to smooth out that 1-2 shift at low throttle rather than trying to muck with shift timing.

I think you need a bit more fuel so it won't hang in gear. Also lowering the wot shift points can put your shifting range right where you are making alot of torque and can be really hard on the trans

Hmmm... these are all good things to hear that I would never think about.

I modified the fueling table quite a bit last weekend when I was playing around to try and get some better feel on the pedal and I think I ended up with about a 2900us pulse width on the top end. I did a few logs of some wide open runs and rolling on it and whatever and it was holding rail pressure no problem.. except when it shifts. There is a mighty display of debauchery when my truck goes to shift... pretty much every trend line on the log just goes all scribbly... smoke comes out the V2 box, lap top shuts down etc....

Anyways, pulse width, TBIQ/TLIQ and some timing changes made it a wee bit better and its got some more balls now. I will play when I have time off again in two weeks.

Why would the torque converter unlock in 5th gear? It shifts into 5th, I've got the pedal on the floor, its accelerating and it will unlock the TC, not go anywhere for a bit until I let off the throttle slightly, TC locks and then keeps accelerating. This happens around 120-130km/h
