K, so I'm throwing an LBZ/ZF6/261 combo in the 83 and about have all the major parts to the puzzle. I've got the engine, trans, clutch, (261 soon), all drivelien pieces except a 78/79 Ford Front HP D60 and now have a stand alone harness in the works.

Thanks to Caleb (05 lly) I'm pretty sure I have an appropriate stock tune to start with (one from an 06 LLY ZF6 4wd truck) so who can help guide me on what things to turn off or change in the tuning so that it won't be freaked out? Like disabling VSS (or whatever that safety thing is) and anything else that needs to be told to be ignored. :D

TIA :thumb:

Your going to have a few challenges like no abs, no vss.

I'm not sure, but you may want a marine LBZ tune no? I don't know if the ECM's are the same or not but this might be easier than trying to disable all the automotive powertrain stuff.

Just a thought that may be worth investigating.....

IIRC from poking around in EFI Live tables, there is a simple VSS Enable/Disable button as well as some parameters that can be changed to make that key sequence to sync up unmatched computers a shorter process???

Then hopefully there's a disable button for the ABS and if not, maybe I can at least make it so it doesn't throw a code or CEL for not having it.

I'm almost positive this is do-able with an automotive harness and ECM and EFI Live because others before me have done it. I've got that "how to" CD that pussow sells on ebay. Guess I need to get in there and see what he says about it too.

Not sure about the ZF6, but I know pussow over at DP doesn't have ABS and he has an 06 van engine(flashed to an LBZ) with an ALLISON running with the ECM, TCM, and BCM without issues. Go through your DTC's and shut off any communications codes and disable the theft system. Since you will have a 261, can't you hook up the OSS into the ECM and go from there?

that's the plan fermanator. Yes, and before the allison, pussow had the 06 LLY (what was in the vans) mated to a 4L85E from the said van for the initial conversion.

Like I said, I have his CD he sells on eBay so I'll check back on there to see what he says about the efi live and what and how to disable things.

I'm pretty sure Johnboy has done LBZ tuning in dmax converted vehicles using EFI Live. I hoep he might chime with some insight. Unfortunately I think his life has him preoccupied with some other things at the moment so he doesn't get to stop in as much.

So no one has an aftermarket non-vvt charger on their LBZ that can lend some advise on things to change in the tuning so the ECM won't freak out when it's not getting a signal from the vanes? :)

sweet. I'll let you do that. I just trying to learn since I haven't done much tuning, I don't know much and am asking questions. :D
