Hey everyone, I finally sold my POS GMC Sierra 1500 and have to get back in a diesel. I've got roughly about 25k to spend in one. I'm looking to get back in a DMAX but wanted to ask the guru's.. Would you rather get a nice higher mileage (over 200k miles) and add a built tranny and tuning (and other things like head studs, fuel pump, etc..) or just go ahead and get a lower mileage one, knowing that I won't be able to do anything with it for a while? I won't be pulling MUCH (2 side by side 4 wheelers) and it won't be my DD. Its more of a 3rd car for my family around our farm. I will say that I'm in NC and freakin diesels are PRICEY, so I might be able to find a over 200k LBZ or a lower mileage LLY. Let me know what you think

I don’t mind miles if it’s been taken care of. I spent 20k on my 06 LLY and it’s extremely clean so I didn’t bar an eye. I know what you mean about prices. I’m from hickory and had to drive to elk in to get a decent deal on one.

For me, Interior shape 1st, mechanically sound 2nd, body condition 3rd, and milage last

If the vehicle is in good shape and the price is right I don't sweat the milage much especially with what you plan on doing to it

no kidding, I've even considered getting a 3rd gen cummins just because I can get one a little bit cheaper, but NC is crazy high. I'm in burlington, so I've been looking around danville VA

yea thats how I've been thinking. this will be a 3rd car so for now, its ok, if its down a little bit getting mods. During hunting season is a different story
