Son's '01 Aurora lost 4th gear last week. From what I understand, the cause is the od shaft in the trans that shears it's splines. Before you say, "Sell it", he likes the car, it runs and shifts good (other than od), its a safe car, and to me its just cheaper to repair whats there than anything other option.
Ive found many threads on Grand Prix and Bonneville forums that outline the repair. It is within my ability.
Ive got a couple questions for Mike (or anyone else with experience with these trans or this repair). Ive emailed Triple Edge Performance about this, but I figured I'd ask here, too.
1) What parts do I have to buy for the repair besides the od shaft, 4th gear clutch pack and side case cover gasket. I have the ATSG manual coming.
2) Should I replace anything else while Im in there?
Thanks for any help.
