A buddy of mine who lives in denver came and met me in Rifle (3hrs away) last night to de-tune his truck as he was supposed to sell it today in stock form. On the way up he got some fuel and was telling me his truck (01, lb7) had a tough time starting at his last stop before we met. It would just crank but took a few seconds to fire. We met up at about 8pm last night. He killed his truck, we stuck the stock tune back in, went to start it up and nothing, it would just crank but never started. never even tried to fire. We took a new filter to it this morning and still no luck. The truck is an 01 dmax with 84xxx miles. He has removed in the last week off the truck a big head wastegate and FASS 90. I had to run him to wyo for work 6hr round trip, i gotta get out there tomorrow and try to get it running and out of the sonic parking lot. Thanks In advance

filled the filter with fuel, cracked the bleeder screw, primed till the screw leaked? was your ASSumption correct!!?
Did you then tighten the screw and pump it until it was too hard to pump or very firm?

Battery is good? poor cranking amps will do this

did it run bad also? this would indicate bad fuel......useally bad fuel and steppping on it will bog down the motor

Gasoline does the same thing when put in diesel trucks...smell the fuel

regulator could be bad or stuck

If your thinking of useing eether:eek:,Unplug the glow plug controller and stick a hair dryer in the intake

I had the same thought, Simon, but surely they would have noticed when they changed the fuel filter.

it had diesel in the filter as well when we pulled it. When i met him his truck was idleing, and he let it idle for a while while we bs'd. It was running and sounded good till we turned it off and tried to re-start it

Ive had my dads 02 do this the rail ended up being air locked . Maybe try cracking a line at the rail and cranking it till you get a spritz of fuel out of fitting. BE CAREFUL high pressure fuel

You removed the FASS? ARe you sure all of your new connections are air tight? Sounds like you are getting air in the fuel lines.
