I was coming home on the freeway the other day on lost power on my '02 gmc 2500hd duramax. It threw a PO087 "low fuel rail pressure" code and limped home. I changed the fuel filter and eraased the code. Test drove it to the store and it had low powe output at anything more than half throttle. It threw the same code again. Then, when I was alomost home it stalled, dumped a bunch of fuel and won't start. It appears to be coming from the injector pump, but I can't tell exactly from where. Prior to this it started fine, the idle was fine, but once or twice seemed to loose power at the top end.
It appears to be a fuel injection pump issue, but I can't tell if it is the pump, the regulator, or the relief valve. It will not start now. I am not sure if I should just start tearing into it and hope the part will make itself apparent as I dig into the pump or wait for some better method of diagnosis. Any help would be appreciated.

check all your fuel lines. try to see if theres traces of fuel in the valley. if there is it might be your pump

Yes the valley is wet. I can't get it to leak out any more, so i am suspicious that the pump to a dump. I gues I'll start pulling the pump and see what it looks like.
