Need Help Resetting TAPS with EFI Live

Hey guys, so I'm trying to reset the TAPs on my LLY. I've done it in the past from the 7.5 scan tool but cant figure out how to do it with V8 for the life of me.

I tried using the 7.5 scan tool but it won't connect to my truck. Obviously I've confirmed the V8 scan tool works

Any insight? I'm not sure sharp with V8.

If you updated the flash scan or V2 with the V8 software then 7.5 won't work until it is also updated

Did you just rebuild your Alli?

No, I’m just having a lot of weird issues with rough downshifts. Especially 2-1. I’ve shuffled around through a bunch of tunes from a variety of tuners as well. The trans was built circa 2011 and is definitely due for a refresh. Just trying to do anything I can to make it as decent as possible for a bit longer until the truck goes down for a combination of mods and maintenance.

I’ll be in touch here this fall. Would like to send the trans to you or Evan so it’s rebuilt probably.

You might need to update your 7.5.

Okay, I’ll give that a shot. I thought I updated 7.5 when I did v8 a month or so ago but probably overlooked it.

Resetting the TAPs won't buy you any additional time. Something is physically wrong and the software can't compensate anymore

I’m aware of that. Im not trying to buy time necessarily, trans holds power just has occasional weird shifting. It’s an Alligator V with a Precision ML that was built 9 years and almost 200k miles ago. I’m the guy that can’t stop messing with things and never satisfied with how it runs.

What spurred the idea of resetting the TAPs was the rough 2-1 downshift since that’s C4 releasing and C5 coming in. From what I understand C5 is the biggest in the Allison.

You are aware you can not have 7.5 open at the same time as 8? (even in the background) This will also cause a no com error.

Yes. After I couldn't get 7.5 to connect, I closed it out and opened V8 just to ensure that I didn't have a cable/interface issue. In all honesty, I'm still more comfortable with 7.5 than I am with 8. I haven't messed around in 8 much since it became somewhat all-inclusive after I sold the race truck.

I have updated 7.5 but haven't tried it yet. Going to follow Mike's advice and change the internal and spin-on.

Agreed, It takes some getting used too the new stuff.

Ah, I wasn't sure if you aware about the 2 versions conflicting so I thought I would mention it just in case. (y)
