LB7: Need help my truck isnt getting any boost

I have a 2001 Duramax and its maybe getting 8-9lbs of boost at the most. I have check all the boots there is no holes or tears. I also checked the pipes there are no holes in them. It blowing black smoke like crazy. I clean the MAF sensor as well. Any body have any ideas?

Hole in the intercooler?

pressure check the intercooler. make sure your wastegate isnt stuck, and make sure your boost pressure sensor is reading correctly

haven't made it as far as checking the inner cooler yet im gonna check it tomorrow. what route do i need to take to check the sensor?

you need a scanner to plug in so that you can read the boost pressure from the ecm, then you need a mechanical gauge so that you can compare the 2

I bet the weld on the waste gate broke.It just happen to ctrump90 and ive heard its not that uncommon.

it has a mechanical gauge in it that's how i know its only getting 8-9 lbs boost... whats the easiest way to check the waste gate?

Here are some pics.Take the snap ring off and see if it spins to far.

Take the down pipe off,pull the turbo,or i dont remember if the ihi has a snap ring on the lever arm on the out side or not, if you can take the rod off and if the lever spins more then 1/2 way the steel flap on the inside is broken off

i got it fixed it was a cracked up-pipe in the passenger side now i getting abour 30lbs of boost :woott:

wow, you would think that you would be able to here that leak if it was bad enough to not let you build any boost

Couldn't hear it honestly a friend seen the smoke coming down from that area thats how i found out it was leaking and it was a pain to change yesterday took forever and a few beers lol but shes fixed so if anyone else has this same problem check the up-pipes
