So I have always had zero issues with tuning my truck since day one. Would accept a cal-flash, full-flash, stand-alone flash, etc. Well it sat with the batteries disconnected since August of last year while the engine was getting built. Here about a month or so ago was when I got it back up and running. Updated all the EFI Live and V2 software. Ever since then when I go to do a cal-flash it says ERROR: "$0534 Invalid serial number" and displays the number as 00000000000. I've tried a full flash where it says it programs in a new EFI Live serial number but it apparently doesn't stick.

So the past month I have just been doing a full flash every time up until recently when I tried doing my first flash with the V8 program. Even doing a full flash it will not get passed the missing serial number. I did a bit of research on EFI forum and it is sounding like my ECM may be TIS corrupt? But so far I have only read this happening to the '01/'02 ECM's. I've programmed my ECM a few times with TIS but have never had issues at all, and to add, hasn't been programmed with TIS in probably 3 years. So I don't understand why it would suddenly start acting up.

Any help is greatly appreciated!! I have a tune from Steve that I'm itching to get it in but this hurdle is stopping me.

stupid question i know, but everything that was on the old battery got to hooked to the one battery right? i had this problem once and it was because i had a corrupt vin number. called my tuner and got a new tune wrote and all was good again.

The only thing that was changed from last year was the EFI Live updates and leaving the battery disconnected. When the engine build was done I did a V7 full flash of the stock tune back in. Once the engine was broke in I went to do a V7 cal-flash of the same tunes I've ran in the truck for the past three years and every time it brought up the serial number missing error. So it can't be the tunes. Like I said the only differences were the EFI Live updates, battery disconnected for 7-9 months, and running the truck off 1 battery now. Steve's tune is a V8 version and from what it looks like the V8 full-flash wont 'add' in it's own serial number like the V7 full flash does.

i dont know if it matters but have you tried the alt keys and turned off the high speed flash? my truck didnt wanna take a full flash after i first got her running but after clicking "use alt keys" and turning off the high speed, it flashed right in. my Cal flashes were not working right away either. took a couple full flashes and since its been great. wish i could help dustin. BTW, this is all done on one battery and my ECM sat for 5 months powerless

I tried both the alt keys and turning off high speed but I believe I only tried it that way twice. I'll have to try it again a few more times and see if anything changes. Thanks for the idea.

Well I tried numerous times over the weekend utilizing any different options available but my ECM still wont keep the serial number. Not sure what happened  But I can at least do a full flash still so it could have been worse. I just wish I knew why it suddenly stopped working.
