ok a friend bought a bike with my help i am the primary on the loan and title he is the co owner and co signer on teh loan. teh loan was for 14.6k and 10.9k left on it he has put like 4k in aftermarket harley stuff on it. the problem is he has made late payments on it several times i told him i am trying to buy a house and he is screwing up my credit. this is the 4th or 5th time he has let the payments go over 50 days other wise he is a week late or so. well i finnaly took possesion of the bike (in a legal way) he was in jail for violateing a protective order against his ex. anyways he had an accident and totaled his truck and has nothign to drive and needs to get to work he wants to sign a contract stateing if he makes one more late payment that he forfits the bike to me and its mine to do what i want but im not sure how legal a contract like that would be. also teh original agreement was for both of us to get a new bike which never happened. him and i have been freiends for a long time but i don't know what to do i was gonna give him my older sportster as payment for the extras and teh money he payed on the bike to be fair but he dosent want to do that he just wants the bike back but there is nothing he can do its all up to me i can afford the payments. so do i give him the bike back with a contract, keep it, or give it back to harley

If you give it back that will effect your credit. If he pays for it it will and has effected your credit.

Keep it or sell it. Best way to loose friends is lend them money.

You (he) lives in CT hows he going to drive it to work? Dude it's um cold and snowing here what are you in the basement with no windows?

Seriously if he wants the bike get your name off it. He's like a women beater ,if he hits her once he'll hit her again. If he paid late he will pay late again. What's he gonna say but sorry and that wont fix your credit when your trying to buy a house.

That's the cold hard truth,sorry

I agree with mackin on this. friends and money loans never go over well but at this point you need to look at it like this, its no longer a friendship deal, its a business deal. You guys signed a contract and he is hurting your credit. you gotta set friendship aside and do what is in your best intrest as he has faultered many times on paying and your trying to get a house. Let alone he went and put another 4k into it! that would urk me more than anything instead of paying on it. Sell the bike or keep it for yourself. Sorry your buddy had a bad run of luck but dont let him bring you down with him. A made up contract can only go so far as your still the primary on the bike and its still gunna hurt you if he misses payments

Never ever lend a buddy more than a couple hundred bucks... Sell it or get your name off it. I have a buddy who I could feel bad about all day long he has constent bad luck and always needs help. I never give into him askin for money, alot of the bad luck these guys have is braught apon themselves

Sellit for whats on the note and save your credit. We're getting snow again this week, where does he plan to drive it? Tell him to go get a $500 bomber.
