i would not stud it . alot of money to spend and the way i see if is if there is enough cylinder pressure to blow a head gasket if you eleminate that release then it will likey just bend the rod . if you still want to do it Guy @ socal is a vendor and great to deal with . i would get his opinion on if he recomends them for you also .

He did have a head gasket let go Then somebody "fixed" his truck Reusing the stock bolts which didn't work.

I am going with studs but I am also making some changes to hopefully make it safer

From your sig you won't need head studs. If you go with a turbo set-up in the 50ish lbs of boost range then do the studs then. Until then save your money for the upgrades to take advantage of the studs.

So you have a HG leaking again,You will need to pull the heads and I would have them checked, Then replace the HG's and then you can go with studs if you would like or I can get you a pice for stock head bolts if that is all you want to get into with it.I would want to know if anything got hurt inside with the post you made in the link, I take it you were talking about your truck doing this?

yup! Engine runs fine though once i drain it and crank it over to push the coolant out then put the plugs back in! It just locks up when its sitting still for a while and not level! It burns off while its running

If everything checks out as far as the heads with there not being any irregularities on the surface of them then put the studs on then. You'll spend in the mid 600's on studs stock bolts are probably in the 300's.

with stock head bolts you would have around 150 or so in the 18 big bolts then there is 8 little one along the top of ea head. and another 180 in 2 head gaskets roughly.

I have seen heads several times on the d-max engine where they become etched around a cylinder and you have to resurface or replace them to fix the problem.

The only point that I'm trying to make is really if you replace your head gaskets two times then you could have put studs in and been about even or maybe a little ahead and that's if you are doing the work yourself. If your paying someone then you're definitely ahead money wise to do the studs. It is your money. I'm just giving my opinion and hope it works out well for you.

We have all said that lol, What ever you do is set by what you have to spend on it right now and how fast you get it fixed, You do not want to be running it around like it is now.

I wish i knew someone in this area that could run by his shop when the heads are pulled to see what they think needs to be done. Because i have him doing it under warranty but i got my eyes on him, and i only know so much.
