You can do it man!

Put on a big welding glove to protect your hand while pushing down on the wrench.

Put your other hand over the box end to help hold it on the FPRV.

first time i did mine it it was sooooo easy. i put the box end on the fprv, then "double wrenched it" with the next size up and it just loosened nice and smooth, no jerking or bloody hands :) give me a large enough lever and i'll move the world. work smart not hard

This sounds good, I have both. Stephenville is close n I'll go that route b4 the bolt is totally gone. If that happens, I'll b taking the rail off darnit. My fault, I shoulda never let that wrench slip on me.

Thanks fer the suggestions. I have everything removed around the bolt do it's easier to get to, we c what happens

I got my race valve about 2 weeks ago, went outside, Fought the damn bracket for about an hr, gave up on that, got a 4" extension under the bracket and proceeded to smash the holy sh!t out of my knuckles for the next 45 min, gave up on that.:baby::baby::baby: and now two weeks later it still sits in a box outside calling me a b!tch everytime i walk by it:mad:........I think next week sometime, bracked meet grinder:D

I used a stubby gear wrench and a 3' square shaft prybar and pried off of the glow plug bracket(?) and it went easy. The O-ring is what make it so hard to get off. If you do remove it, put a little heat to it to soften/melt the o-ring and it should come a little easier.

lolol, damn I did the exact same thing. Already had attempted to take the bracket off, and walked away, couple weeks later my neighbor comes over and we attack the bracket. He would get mad and id go after it, then I would and let him, he finally got the bracket off after an hr. Those bolt are underneath the darn thing and just about impossible to get to. I just dont know if I can put them back on. Right now I have the glow plug controller zip tied in spot til I get the valve off.

Also reminds me I need to buy another valve for when this one comes off. Also, thought I would put the egr blocker plate on....... Lost the damn thing... Dont have a clue where it is now.

I can only laugh now....

Are people still having a prob with the Race valve leaking? I ready people having that problem and I bought the shim mod instead. Looks like this valve will be destroyed to get it out. Trying to decide to buy an OEM valve or go with the race valve... Any thoughts on this.

I just shimmed mine guys, I used 5 6mm washers I think it ended up around .260". I wanted it to almost coil bind the spring (just like a race valve but with factory no leak parts). I pulled the whole rail out. Already had all the fuel lines off for the injectors. The rail was easy to remove. 12mm gear wrench in front & 12mm 1/4" socket on a 10" ext. for the rear, reached down from between the turbo hot housing & the compressor housing to get the bolt. Used long needle nose to remove the soft fuel return line & clamp. Put rail in the vice & 6 point 18mm socket & impact. I think pat did a tutorial on shimming the valve, just be careful when you pull it apart not to loose the poppet.

The race valve dont leak if there installed tight like they should be. and most get rail leaks from foing the shim mod and messing up the valve seat from the vice then the rail is screwed and needs replaced. You can not buy the FPRV from Gm you have to buy the whole rail 365 bucks. I have found one place to get the FPRV from if needed but its still 158 or so bucks.

Ah, sweet. Thanks for the write up. I look down at the rail when I thought I was just going to take the rail off and then slammed the hood, thinking hell no. This will def help me if I havta go this route.

Thanks, I knew it was importance but DIDNT know it was this important to get the valve seated correctly and exact. That will be a 365 bones mistake I dont want to make. If somehow this does get jacked up, Ill know who to get 1 from:hug:

Ill be making a trip to Stephenville on Friday and Tylerustlb7 will try to fix my screwup.

Time to party

Hell yeah, finally found someone with big enough balls who would attack my fuel valve. Tylerrustlb7 took a 3/8 impact to that B**** and got it to brake loose. Yeah yeah it's just a bolt but that bolt was a true beating. Commanded 23k and it holds that now nice n easy. Before it would comm that and then fall down to 19k and u could feel the truck fall on it's face. Only thing I feel now is the defueler, which will leave when tranny build comes. Can't believe how happy gettin a bolt off feels. It's up there with the nuts...:D
