I am going to be changing the setup of my truck. I am going to twin my 66 with an 81. I am leaning towards a 1055 converter. will this be too loose? I am open to suggestions other than the 1058. thanks

Not familiar with the turbos. How hard will it be to spool? The 1055 is great for big singles.

A 1057 should not be "too tight" for a 66mm charger. We can spool a 75mm charger with one.

But Mike got us a looser converter for the 80mm charger, and it works great. Whatever is in Casper now is good for big chargers.

by 75mm do you mean a 42? Is 1800rpm stall really enough to light that thing?

My 1057 spooled the 66mm HTT very well for me. I would say try what you have then go from there.

If not i vote 1055

I have a 1057 that is too tight for the 66 right now. after it is twinned it would get worse i would think.

The turbo on my truck is an S300 66/74. It spools ok most of the time but depending on the DA (We are at 2300ft.) it can be a bit hard. The 81 mm is similar to an S480.
i am going to have a twin kit very close to what you have stated .
i started out with a 1054 stall of 2000 rpm it was way to tight even for my at the time bd supermax , i always had troubles spooling everyone said it could not be to tight for that turbo but with a d/a of 6000 ft it was just to tight i am now running
the 1055 and i love it night and day difference the turbo spools twice as fast i could barely power brake before ( it took 6-8 sec to get enough boost to break the tires )but now if i want the tires are spinning within a sec or two , go with the 1055 you wont be sorry it tows well also . just my own experience something to add i did the high flow feed pipes also and it helped spooling as well .

Does the 1055 still load the motor hard enough to make it run strong?

yes it couples very agresively i have not had it long enough to get to the track but i have not seen any downsides to it yet it breaks the tires loose at 30 mph when i lay into it . with the 1054 i could not tell much in the feel of the truck when the converter locked up but with the 1055 it actually sucks when it locks up cause of all the throttle response you lose it has a realy good feal to it if some one is close with one go for a ride and see for yourself .:D talk to mike he has driven a few trucks with it installed .
