My truck came from the dealer (used) with the 3 12 volt cigarette plugs, the ash tray lamp, and the glove box lamp all disconnected. The wire on the ash tray lamp is smaller than the wire I'm tapping into to hook it up (dimmer wire at the radio harness). I'm no electrical guru, in fact, I rarely do my own electrical anything :roflmao: I'm going to order posi-taps to make these connections, as the regular "vampire" taps have giving me major problems in the past (they should be banned IMHO). I'm thinking the ash tray lamp wiring is 18-20 gauge, the glove box lamp is 16-18 gauge, and the regular radio harness is 14 gauge, can anyone confirm that? Posi-tap connectors come in a decently universal and broad range to connect different gauge wiring, if anything I could just splice a bigger gauge wire to the ash tray wiring and then use the posi-tap. For my glove box lamp I'll be tapping the orange 12 volt wire that powers my 3 12 volt plugs (these wires were soldered months ago).

Can anyone fill me in? It would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Just saw I didn't do my signature yet, its an 04.5 LLY Duramax with factory radio. Thanks guys!
