Need help with mechanical problem

I have an 01 dully crew with a duramax ,approx 220000 km (132000 miles) .I took it to my mechanic because ,my fuel gauge was inop,my heater didn't blow very hot ,and I wanted a full tune up and oil change.
My wife went to pick the truck up she returned to the shop cause heater was still blowing cool . While she waited the tech was revving engine for about ten minutes trying to figure heating issue out. He then noticed a huge oil/diesel spill under the truck. The truck was left the today I am told it requires the injectors changed as the puddle was a result of excessive dumping of fuel into the engine! I like my mechanic but I am having difficultiy comprehending this diagnosis . It doesn't seem to make sense ,especially when he had performed an 0bd. II diagnostic on it . Can anyone comment or enlighten me ? I feel I'm being misled on this.

hi there, sorry to hear about your problems..
welcome to the best informational forum about the duramax diesel!

your mechanic is more than likely shootin straight with ya...when the injector fails it will dump fuel into the crankcase and "overfill" the engine.

the issue is obvious, i suggest arming yourself with some knowledge from this forum, there really is no need for balance rates at this point, your gonna need a whole set....of injectors, that is

good luck

berto has an 01 lb7, he also started another thread about the same problem, possibly hopeing to get a faster answer

berto sent his truck to the shop for a coupl other reasons and came out needing injectors, and not fixing his heater core issue, possible that coolant isnt geeting to the core.....idk

berto do some homework, others will surely chime in on this, and always place as much info about your truck so we can help to make educated guesses, afterall we cant see or touch or hear your truck.....

You can scan the truck and check balance rates to see what's going on with the injectors, that's why he used the obd scan devise. Where was the oil/fuel coming from? Just so you know, that's a common sign of lb7 injector issues, oil coming out of the PCV system bc the pan is overly full bc of diesel fuel contaimination. The diesel gets in the oil bc of a cracked body on an injector...
