Well i was born a true die hard Ford man. We used nothing but Ford around the farm and as of now I AM DONE WITH FORDS!!!! So i purchased my first Chevy a 2003 2500 Silverado HD Diesel and I love it. I have question and am willing to take advise so feel free to share. One of the first things I am looking to do is get a diesel programmer and with the Durmax I am wondering what people have used and how they liked what they got. I need one that is user friendly I will be using it for everyday driving and also for hauling bucking bulls. Let me know Thanks

Welcome! :thumb:

The most User Friendly power-ups are the handheld tuners.
In 5 minutes, you can set your truck to various power levels. From tow to full race. PPE is the brand I recommend.

For the true enthusiast, we can edit our ECM calibration using a notebook computer. This is what nearly all the racers do. The #1 name in Tuning Tools is EFILive.

You don't have to race to use EFILive, you can tune whatever power level you like, and can shift the power level on the fly. It's the most complicated, but it's the coolest tool in my toolbox. It does diagnostics, datalogging, and many other tasks. It works on most late model GM products, including gas and diesel.

PS - The only reason I'm not driving a Ford 6.0 was that when I went to the dealership, I noticed that more than 1/2 the new 6.0's had seepage from the rear main. I liked the way it drove, and have always liked Ford Trucks (have had 3), but ended up with the Dmax, and couldn't be happier.

If I were you, I would add a good fuel additive like Standyne? ever other tank. A small but significant % of LB7 Duramaxes (2001-2004) end up with injector problems. Seems a good fuel additive can extend the life of the injectors.
