i think im gettin an unusual low fuel economy . Got an 18 foot enclosed bumper pull tandem axle trailer weighs 3k with about 1500- 2000 lbs of product inside. I'm pullin across s.e. kansas , relatively flat just dealin with wind. Truck is a bone stock 2005 2500hd lly /allison 5 spd auto . I'm averaging 70 mph runnin 2200 rpms . I'm averaging 10.4-10.6 mpg . Computed using actual miles divided by gallons used . Does this seem low or am I expecting to much from factory engineering? When wind is high 20 plus i get around 9.5-10 . Seem right?

70mph is not good for mpg's on a stock truck

try running 60mph or so with the trailer

enclosed trailers induce a lot of drag which is awful for mileage. the faster you go the worse it gets.

and hand calculate your mileage. how many gallons per how many miles

also are your tires 245's or are they bigger??

Just got done with a trip from northern Utah to northern Arizona. Plenty of grades to climb with 12K towed behind. Mileage per tank ranged from 11.3 to 11.8 hand calculated.I was usually running 60-65 mph.
