I created a tune where I by accident removed all the boost on a LLY. The turbo vanes would only move to the minimum vane position which resulted in maybe 3-4psi of boost at 80mph. Using my DSP2 switch I discovered that the boost-less tune achieves about a 10% better mpg than the slightly boosted (similar to stock) tune.
Obviously this tune is not for racing but will get you 10% farther on the highway.
I think the economy tunes posted on the DP work similarly.

I'd agree. Someone made me an economy tune with really low boost. It does pretty good.

ive made tunes using the "boost tables" tune from DP, ofcourse there just boost tables and i made the rest of the tune but it still would make decent power at WOT but got over 20MPG when i tried.

Can you hurt the truck if you run low boost?...I NEED better MPG's...$4.30/gallon is starting to "sting" to the point where it ain't even funny...BTW I am new at the acronyms for Diesels, what does WOT stand for?

my milage tune is from a guy on the dp that i made some changes to and it runs almost no boost. none whatso ever on the highway. it added some timing but thats it. by opening up the vanes using the vane position tables you will in turn open up the exhaust. allowing more air to pass through the turbo and using less power to spin the turbine.
