Read several comments that the fitment was excellent compared to how the others (Banks, CG&J, BD) fit. Had one in my wishlist on Amazon and sometimes Amazon discounts items firesale like and bought it for song. The box is a little dirty and has been opened but the intercooler has never been removed from the sealed factory plastic. Just could not pass it up for the price and it'll be a few weeks before I install.

One thing that I will be doing is replacing the grommets supporting intercooler. I managed to remove the intercooler from the box and it is heavy and you will need help installng....

These are the gromments for the LBZ/LMM and pretty sure they will fit the LLY, just type in the number at NalleyGMC...

I did lots of reading on them and for 889 shipped I couldn't pass on my banks one it's much heavier than stock and for sure needed 2 people to instal over all I'm happy with it. From everything I've read people love their mishimoto ones as far as fitment goes the banks came with all the necessary mounting hardware and easily fit in all the factory holes.... Thinking about it I did take the plasma cutter to the air box support peice but if you can follow directions it was simple;)

Does the Banks intercooler push the radiator back towards the fan and bump the shrouds back so you need a spacer between the core support and fan shroud?

I 100% recommend the Mishimoto intercoolers...the fitment is awesome, and it does NOT push the radiator/fan shroud back towards the engine. I have a CG&J intercooler on my truck because it was inexpensive, and Mishimoto was not available at the time I needed one (stocker had a hole in it)....functionally it works perfectly and is much thicker than the stocker, but it pushes the radiator back towards the fan. It wouldnt be any problem for someone running electric fans, but with the stock fan and shroud, its a little annoying and makes things tight. It obviously works, but I was pretty jealous when we put a Mishimoto on my buddy's truck and everything fit 100% exactly like factory with the factory fan/shroud.

I watched the Mishimoto install video for the LBZ/LMM intercooler wanting to see if they had any modification surprises like some aftermarket parts do. You have to remove one AC condenser bracket and install one supplied by Mishimoto. Just pulled the parts box out the shipping box and it does have a bracket/support in it....

I installed Mishmoto radiator and intercooler. The factory AC Condenser brackets are easy to remove by hand. The AC condenser fits tight enough between the stack and the core support frame uprights that I could get away with not even using the supplied lower brackets. May not be that way on every truck but its held firmly in place without them.

Add another happy customer with their intercooler. Absolutely perfect stock fit. Couldn't tell relay any EGT information as so many other things were changed when I installed it.

Well between my gear change, cooling stack clean out and the new intercooler I dropped 150* egt towing. I'd say it had something to do with it but can't confirm

Ben

Banks bolted right in to radiator keeping everything in the stock location allowing me to reuse the fan shrouds without modification looking in the engine bay you wouldn't know it's and aftermarket cooler fit and finish is great in my opinion!

As far as egts my truck went from 100% stock to what's in my sig all at once but I can't seem to pull egts over 1075 degrees... Not sure what helped the most

Have question, how is it possible to lower EGT's when the intercooler is on the intake side not the exhaust..??

cooler intake temps = cooler exhaust temps. the colder the air introduced into the combustion chamber, the cooler the burn is when it fires. so those escaping gasses are then cooler as well.

Thanks for the interest in our intercooler! For some R&D information, check out the report we put together below.

http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/yhst-62631657248580/2011-item-er-pdf-link-new.png

And a summary of the specs/testing results is below.

  • · 25% greater core volume
  • · 15% drop in intake temperatures
  • · Cooler pressure loss is identical to stock intercooler
We also conducted some CFD analysis of our end tanks to ensure airflow was being dispersed to the entirety of the core. This provides optimal use of the increased core size.

Let me know if I can answer any additional questions about our intercooler!

I've heard nothing but good things. Planning to get one myself for my truck.

Thanks! If you do end up picking up our cooler, we would love to hear your feedback once installed.

Thanks for picking up our cooler Mike! Good idea replacing the mounts, especially if they are degraded or worn.

Thanks for the kind words Ben! We always design our products with ease of install in mind. Great to hear it fit perfectly for your buddy.

Thanks for the kind words guys!

Great info, thanks guys. Do these flow any better?

Flow is similar to the factory cooler, however we are able to make big impacts on heat transfer with the core we have designed. Check out the data in our engineering report linked above!

I'll agree with that.

Correct, cooler air in means cooler air out. Thanks for chiming in Chevy.
