Well my truck has a problem. The other day after coming back from a 1800 mile trip to Utah/Colorado from Cali. I got in the truck after a few hours and it had a misfire, but it cleared up in a minute and no CEL. Yesterday started the truck, went 10 miles shut it off no problem. Restarted after a couple hours and I have a CEL. I pulled a p0380,p0101,p0303,and another p0380. Have not really run it hard lately but the periodic misfire in cylinder3(p0303) is worrisome. I am thinking a glow plug problem. I do have a bad balance rate (6.5 in drive) on cylinder 1. p0101 in mass air flow. Truck seems ok for power after warm up. Any Ideas?

i would address the glow plug issues first and see what that does. has the controller ever been replaced?? does it smoke considerably on cold start up and take a while to clear up??

Fix the glowplug issue first, then see what happens. I don't think the codes you have are related, but you never know...
Cali truck right? Odds are it's one or more glowplugs gone bad.

Thanks guys I am looking into the harness. I pushed and pulled on it and no code this morning. Can a glow plug problem cause a misfire?

Yeah Lawrence its a Cali truck. Should that make a difference with the glow plugs?

Yes, the LB7's are different fed to cali. Cali trucks usually have glowplug issues, fed trucks have controller issues. IIRC i've had a P0380 code pop-up every spring for the last 3 years. But I have never had a miss fire code!

Second day is a row no codes, I guess trucks getting old and things are loose. I will have to watch it. Raced last night and no misfire.

The P0380 will come and go.
IIRC, 2 consecutive calls for glowplugs (cold starts) and one or more doesn't work the CEL will light.
3 consecutive starts without a call for glowplugs (warm starts) and the light will go off.
