Has anyone thought of using them on the Allison?
They seem pretty cool and cheaper than OEM. They are made of braided stainless steel. So they could easily be maneuvered around to clear really tight places for the guys with big down pipes. Im sure that if someone got one the same length as OEM, and stuck the OEM stick down into it, it could be a viable option instead of buying a ds dipstick. It's at least cheaper.

So have you or anyone done this? If so... What did you do the the end that goes into the trans? Are the sticks fitted with a male end to go into the Allison securely?

That's exactly what I did. I snapped it trying to bend it to fit the drivers side. But this mildon one is a flexible braided steel one. So you can just wiggle it into whatever position you want. Il post a link in a couple minutes.

Nice!:thumb:

So what do you think about modifying the end to work with an Allison? Not sure what would be the best way to do it. And we would have to make sure that it's the same length as OEM so that the original stick will work with it. Other than that, I think its a pretty good idea. I hate installing those damn dip sticks.

If you had the stocker you might be able to use it? Cut the end off and fit it to the aftermarket unit?? Never saw it in person so its hard to say. I still can't understand how the drivers side tube I bought is worth 90 bucks when the stock unit is like 38 from the dealer, and the drivers side tube is smaller. I thought it was a 4500/5500 stick but apparently not, those were cheap from the dealer too but all the dealers I tried said that they weren't supporting medium duty trucks anymore???

Well I still have the last ~6" of it. That's what I have in the trans now. I wonder if id be able to mate that up the the end of the braided line. I may just buy it and see what I can come up with.

Lokar sells one for the GM 4L80E... Anyone know if the Allison shares the same dipstick as the 80E? If so, then that would work.

Well that would be going back to the non flexible unit. Unless the kodiaks is braided and I just ddidnt know it?

I talked to mike l today. He said that the 4L80E and the Allison share very similar dip sticks. He also said to contact the guys at suncoast. As they may already have lokar's for the Allison.
