I know there are a couple pictures of the duramax with the red machined valve covers and the mechanical pump in the valley floating around the forum here but I don't think there have been any videos of it yet. I just stumbled upon this, this morning.

Always liked the sound of big fuel mechanical motors spooling up, lots of loping. Our pulling tractor was like that, shook you out of the seat when you spooled it.

Sounds nice and looks nice except the injector lines look like they were the last thing left and someone got excited.

I want one!!!!! Jesus that thing sounds so awesome.

What causes the lope?

Nature of the beast with mechanical motors. Mostly due to the timing and amount of fuel going into them. With mech motors you are stuck with what you setup for competition, this means sacrificing other areas. We ran our tractor with dual feed 5x25 nozzles and 1000cc pump feeding them with timing at 35*. Shook you out of the seat and driving around the pits was interesting.

My understanding is the lope is something to do with the governor bouncing at that particular RPM or something along those lines.

Glad they got the pump straightened out. Last video was no bueno.

I 2nd what Tom said, the Watson crew does impeccable work. Absolutely amazing. I agree though, the lines could look better but wow, its badass regardless.

I see I see. I personally think its cool as hell. A big cammed v8 at idle is still my favorite sound.

They were having a few issues and the lines were in and off a few times- they have since been replaced and it is now back to impeccable conditions.

Congrats to Chris Watson- awesome build. Can't wait to see it at TS
