A friend called me today and asked if I would line up against a colleagues Viper GTS....not sure about what year or mods.
Was it a good idea to say sure, anytime?!:confused:

I have a second cp3 waiting to be installed ( just need to design the bracket, pulley and electronics :) ) and maybe a bigger charger in the future.

Would I be able to beat him with just tuning and my SC IV? Will hit the scale in a week from today.....assuming I race him @ 6000lbs.

i kinda doubt you will win, but i sure hope you do. you have nothing to lose. you have a 4x4 truck, he has a factory built sports car. if he wins, its no big deal..however, if you win..well....you will be the coolest guy in germany! (personally, i already think you are:D)

race him and let us know how it goes! good luck!

btw, my guess is 6177 pounds.;):D

i have seen one of my buddies run a stock gts and it was in the high 11's low 12's so you might be a little over your head. they wont hook up but their top end is nasty.

look up "dodge cummins smokes viper" on youtube.com

I race a viper occasionally.
Good Luck.

race him in the 1/8th would be a good race! Anything after that is a walk in the park for a GTS.

Most importantly, if you do race. Have fun and make him wish he could pull a trailer and get 20 mpg with his Viper.

I palyed with a new one on the way to Scheid last weekend. I won't even pretend I could actually keep up at interstate speeds but I impressed the guy (he gave me a thumbs up) cause the first dig (me right behind him pulling away from traffic) he didn't lose me at all and was watching me in his rearview mirror. The next run he gave it a little more effort and dropped two gears. He obviously pulled on me pretty good but I was satisfied with how well the truck hung in there with him. I also raced the truck taht got high HP on Sat. at Scheid on the way up (didn't know the guy before racing) and he pulled on me harder than the viper did.

I think you'll get taken either way unless you get that second CP3 and cahrger on there. With those, you'd likely take him in the quarter unless he adds some things as well.

Let er eat and tell us how it goes. :D

Well... no telling IMHO. I would wager that you beat him to half track if you whip your pony hard out of the hole, then the fact he weighs 3500lbs +/-, is as slippery as a $2 ho and has 500 HP he catches you at the scary end. Maybe he'll panic at 3-400' and blow his tires out, are they that fast? IIRC they are high 10's, low 11's with a hard talented driver...

Maybe he can't shift? Maybe he doesn't wanna whip his pony? Maybe he hammers it to hard during his 1-2 and gets squirrelly (sp?) and backs out?

You'll know after it's all done! What have you got to lose? We drive 7k trucks? Pressures on him. Good Luck! That's racin' and what fun it is!:D

gts was 525 hp min and 650 and 750 optional.
some of us have the 750hp gts-r option.
even the 525 hp version would give the duramax a run after 40 to 60 feet.
after 100 mph its all over unless someone wants to drive a 6k+ truck on the far side of 150mph:)
On the road coarse we break 200 with them.

First Generation GTS (1992-1995)
Performance:

0-60: 4.6 sec.

0-100: 9.1 sec.

quarter mile: 12.6 sec. @ 119 mph

top speed: 180+ (confirmed by Road and Track magazine / 1992)

Second Generation (1996-2002)
Performance (GTS):

0-60: 4.0 sec.

0-100: 8.6 sec.

quarter mile: 12.2 sec @ 118 mph

top speed: 190+ mph (again proven by Road and Track magazine)

Third Generation zb (2003-2006)
0-60 mph: 3.8 sec
0-100 mph: 8.9 sec
Quarter Mile: 11.9 sec @ 122 mph

at 500 hp and 525 ft. lbs. of torque

your gonna need dual cp3's and a turbo. Unless the driver cant drive for shit then you might be in a little trouble.

Thanks Paint 94,

There's the facts... 500hp +/-, with 1/4 times. no argument that they are fast. If he breaks tow him home, be a good sport:rofl:

Don't need to worry about 200mph top speed, he only get's 1380', Go have fun!

I have another "victim" identified... my boss just got a CLK 63 AMG....C/D reported the car to run a 12.6s 1/4mile. I assume that he will have "traction issues" on the road and these times are track only....anyway close to 500hp in a 4100lbs. car should be good for a challenge :D :D

Exactly it will be a good challenge. Those cars are damn fast.
