um they go more than i do... but i go as much as i can get away.. i think we caught 6 that trip.. we catch them with dogs and our hands, we dont trap them.

oh, yall do it the fun way:D
we trap them in Hamilton...mainly to get them off of my wife's grandparents land. the most we've caught in a trap at one time is 20. the least, i believe is 6.
we also go spotlighting and balst a few more that way.
what do yall do with them? the in-laws live in Brady, so we used to drive another 1/2 hour to Mason and sell them, but prices dropped so lately, we just give them to whoever wants pork and slaughter a few for ourselves.

here's some old pics from our camera. this was prior to trapping...we were just shooting then.

we just got them out on one section of my ranch and they make a mess of the land but they sure are fun to shoot. Ive shot a couple with my bow. Theyre pretty smart too. We tried to get them off the place one year and brought out a helicopeter. After getting shot up the first day they wouldnt come out in the daytime after that.

i've learned if you know their trail, shoot the older ones first, then you can cut off the younger ones because they seem to always stick to the trail they came in on. we shot some one morning, and waited for them to come back that evening...which they did. group of 12, shot 4. after that, we've never seen them in that spot again.

our traps are pretty big. we used 3 20ft panels and a home made door. most of the time, we just prop the door open and they rush in at once, tripping it. the time we caught 20, i was up in a tree with a string attached to the door. when more came up to it, i would open the door and they would walk right in. it was quite funny.

Thats nice. We've been trapping and spotlightin the chit out of em out at the place. Most of ours are all Russians. Two years ago I shoot at a BIG feral sow with my .270 at about 75 yds. away. Perfect placement, and all she did was turn around and smile at me. But here lately I've been dropping them with my .204.

I got a 270 WSM that packs quite a punch. I wanna try it on some hogs and see how it does. Ive never hunted with dogs though, whats the differece when your using dogs? More up close and personal?

First thing NO guns, just a knife so you can stab little ones.

You let your bay dogs go which are the curr's,they find them bay them up then let the bad boys go(pit's) they hold them there while a guy or gal goes in and flips the hog while another person hobbles it up.Then drag it back to the truck! So ya,you get up close:rofl:

The adrenaline rush is crazy when hunting hogs like that. Do yall use the vest or let go in naked. The reason I say it is cause I work for a Vet. and he has seen his fair share of dogs torn up by hogs. One guy almost lost 4 blue lacys. Being the animal lover he is, he will not let me hunt hogs with dogs.

i've tackled a few before...but only in the trap. i've never knifed a hog. i usually take a mini-14 to go hunting in a truck. if i'm walking, i have a lever .44 mag. i've shot some with a .270 also.

i've got a few pics on my phone of some larger ones i've shot, but i don't see any that are too big...just around the 200 lb range.
i've always wanted to hunt with dogs...watch 'em pigs get torn up :D.

edit: i've shot one in the 300 lb range. didn't bother messing with him, i left him for the buzzards.

No the bay dog's have cut collars and the catch dog's have full vest's.We allways carry a staple gun if they get cut, staple them up right on the spot.
