So climbed under my truck while back. Seen oil coming out the bell housing. My guess is rear main seal. How bad are they on these? Do I have to pull trans?motor? Is it one piece two piece and last does crank have to come out? If motor needs pulled may have to add more additions. :D

Well one way or another the motor and trans have to be separated. You will need the driver to seat the new. There are made out of a felt material with a steel banding as the outer sealing race. I work at a machine/ fab/ millwright shop and I just turned my own down out of a chunk of aluminum. I can get the dimensions for you this evening if you have access to a lathe. Or they sell them through many of the dealers on here.

I will look into the seal installer. I have a bunch of plastic ones many sizes for tranny seals think one of these will work?

The installer has bolts that screw into the crank and is pulled into place. It is easy to ruin one without the correct tools to put it in with. You would also need the right tool for pulling the metal ring off the crank when you get it out.

Merchant automotive carries rear main seal driver also. Worked great for me.

Just FYI anything that leaks on the top of the engine will leak down the back by the bellhousing. Make sure to check stuff like turbo feed/drain pipes as well. Just trying to save ya some headaches :thumb:

Oil Leak

Make sure that it doesn't have fuel in the oil. Double check the oil to see if it's high. That will make it leak out of the blue. Not normal for the rear main to leak.

Yeah there is a little drainage hole on the back of the block where anything in the valley can drain off the rear of the engine.

I found the culprit. Think this leak has anything to do with the knicks in my compressor wheel? I'm not sure what the hose is under my intake piping and wire loom but it has a leak too. The oil is going all the way around my bell housing. The oil line for the turbo is whats leaking really bad.

I dont think its the drain itself. It looks like its coming from above that. I know I would be in the market for a turbo just didn't think that time would be so close. What all do you have to have to mount a bigger aftermarket one? Parts wise?
