mantua, oh
so i just put a s475 on . all custom plumbing and im gettin a maf low sensor. trying to disect this. could it be mounted backwards or is the increase in airflow and not having adjusted the table in the tune causing this. ?? i would think that however would not cause a low indication. ?? need some input please

I had mine installed backwards double check that... then you most likely need to rescale your MAF table

Can you post a picture of how you have it mounted in the pipe. Since you're just "pretty positive", it would be easy to verify if you post a picture. Then we can go from there.

Just out of curiosity, how did you rescale your MAF table?

I appreciate the feedback from everyone that has contributed. I know there are alot of others out there that could contribute and give some ideas but for some reason no one likes to help on this site any more. I think it is piss pore and a shame to say the least.

I dont think its that no one wants to help , but the only way some one can help above what you have been told or tried is to send you a tune configured for what your doing , I looked at your pics yesterday and after seeing the MAF was in correctly , and that you verified the sensor was good there was nothing i could contribute that had not already been said .

is it possible to elimate the maf all together and just turn off the dtc

Yes you can but you will be controlling almost all the fuel goin into your motor by your right foot. This can make for lots of smoke on take offs or laggy spool up from too much fuel.

My truck was a PITA to tune I had a broken MAF wire. I would check for the same plus look for bent pins in the MAF connector. But I think Mike L is on to something bends disrupt air flow/ velocity already then throw a sensor in and tell it to read correctly is asking for trouble.

thanks for all the feedback. mark from danville looked at the tuning and squared it away. so i know the tuning is good. i tried the tune and it seemed to b better as in it took longer to throw the code however it is still throwing the code. i recut the maf bung off cause i thought it was not allowin the sensor to sit deep enough and that also did not work. i will check the wires. i dont know were else to go with this. you really thind the bend is a issue.??

yes. You dont take air readings from the inside (throat) or outside (heel) of an elbow. Pressure readings will be incorrect. For the most accurate reading, you want 2 1/2 x's the pipe dia of straight from any bends.

thats somewhere in the vicinity of 12 inches correct for a 5 inch pipe. there is no where near that much room . what do you suggest?? do we think at least gettin it in somewhat of the straight will help?? what i dont understand is my last 4 inch setup i had it mounted in the bend and had no problems???

Are you sure you don't have a leak somewhere that is allowing air to enter the engine without passing over the MAF sensor? I doubt the bend is causing the problem. I know it isn't ideal, but I've seen it work many times before. What kind of MAF readings are you getting at idle? When does it throw the code? Idle, cruising, light acceleration, or heavy acceleration?

First of all I would like to see an apology to the members for your assenine bitchy remark. You posted it was custom piping and it seemed you closed your eyes and poked a hole to install MAF. now we are supposed to diagnose it? And you are pissed cause we could not figure it out?
You cannot put the MAF where you feel like it. You need knowledge and equipment. Your custom pipe may never work. there is more to installing custom turbo's than laying pipe.

Mike is right... I would mount the MAF as close to the air filter as possible.
