My truck has developed a loud rattling noise while sitting at idle. The noise sounds like it is coming from the bell housing. Noise goes away at about 1500 RPMs. Anybody have an idea of what it might be?

Mine had/has a rattle. I just bumped up my idle to 720 and it stopped completely. 1056 Suncoast converter. Bolts are tight and flex plate is fine

My purple 5 star rattled at idle. It's normal for some converters to do this I was told. Annoying though.

Mine only does it while in gear at a stop. Not so much a rattle as it is a bad pump noise(whine). Torque converter bolts are tight. Pressure relief valve maybe? Anyone ever have that or a pump go out? Ultimate trans in boise did my build, running their 37-100 converter. I've even got them scratching their heads in this one.

Question for Mike! I bought an 01 lb7 215k last summer, Ive put about 5k miles on since. Torque converter wasnt rattling when I got it. But serviced it and shortly thereafter is around when it started. Transmissions still running great, pulled hay trailer couple weeks ago. Should I be worried, stop driving, replace converter? I dont have much history on it, whats been done to it. Its annoying as hell

I wouldn't be worried. Many times the pulse of a diesel engine will cause the clutches to rattle.
