I have an 06 Duramax with 108k. Last week taking off it started making a chirping noise. It is getting worse. It onlly does it between 1300 and 1500. Any advice on how to see if its the turbo or what else I should check? Any help would be appreciated.

No truck is OEM, it is quite between shifts and letting off the gas. It only does it between 1300-1500 in any gear its in. Seems like it is louder taking off. the only other problem truck has is minor power steering leak....

We all have the power steering leak, kind of the same as the tranny cooler lines. Could be the compressor is kicking on and the belt is worn. Do you have auto climate control? If so, and it is set to auto the compressor will kick on above 42 degrees and continue to run.
If the refrig is low it will not kick on until enough pressure is built up in the system like 1300-1500 rpm

You can buy a stethascope sp? from just about any auto parts store. I would start the truck and listen to all the bearings in anything that spins (with bearings, not the balancer and such). You will hear the bearings grind or chirp even at an idle.

I would change the belt anyway, at 108K it's time for a new one.
