Losing power......

I am curious to see if anyone else has had the same issue as I have had with my 2001 (LB7) Duramax.

When I tow my boat (4500lbs) up a hill after a minute or so I will loose all power. I pull to the shoulder and pump the gas pedal (engine acts like a flooded gas engine), after about 30sec of pumping the pedal the engine all the sudden goes back to normal and on my way I go. It is ONLY when i am climbing a hill I can tow as fast and hard as I want on flat ground and the issue never happens. I can floor it going up a hill without towing anything and the issue doesn't happen.

I had a dealership see if they could figure it out. They had my truck for almost 7 weeks, never figured it out and tried billing me for BS not related. I will save that rant for another time. They told me my fuel pressure was good. I have tried new fuel filters. When the issue happens no check engine light comes on and we can't get any error codes.

anyone have any ideas? fuel pump? Injectors? (Had new injectors put in 7 years ago) This has been going on for just over a year and I am tired of it.

thanks for any help or ideas,
Kevin

What fuel filter is on there? Some plastic ones can leak and let you suck air.

Does it happen at a certain fuel level? Full, half tank or?

What mods do you have done to the truck, engine wise?

Doesn't seem to matter. though I usually have a full tank.

I just have a 5" mbrp exhaust. I did install a Hypertech programmer but that was a few weeks ago, I have been having this issue for over a year.

I have tried 3 diff fuel filter manufactures. Not sure about the fuel line collapsing. I don't have any fuel leaks, I have looked all around from the tank to the engine.

Collapsed fuel line is my guess also. Ck them at the engine and transmission. The LMM like to kink at the left rear or the engine.

Clean your cooling stack, and check fuel cooler under truck, I'd bet fuel temps are getting too high and ecu is pulling fuel...
