loosing antifreeze!

alright so my dad took our truck to florida and was pulling a snowmobile trailer, he said that after he left it said that he was low on anti freeze, so for the whole trip he was putting anti freeze into the truck, he put about 1 1/2 gallons in it, the truck wasnt leaking or overfull it was loosing it somplace, so we brought it too our mech, and the engine code was throwing so they replaced the erg valve or whatever it is, they test drove it and it still was loosing some, their is a ton of pressure in the antifreeze surge tank, and the mech says its because we possibly blew a head gasket or did somthing in the motor, does anyone have any insight on to what could be going on? thanks

Definately sounds like a head gasket to me. After the vehicle has completely cooled off is the upper rad hose still hard? Also check the oil to see if there is coolant in the crankcase. If the engine was burning it, you would see a lot of white smoke.

yep sounds like a HG, if you are ok working on the truck they are not too bad, going slow looking at 3ish days to do it the first time, make sure you get the heads checked out before you put them back on

im not gonna do it, me and my dad are heading out of town towing the trailer back to ohio so unfortunatly my brothers got a brand new f250 :/, im not sure what we would be better off in, a chevy with a blown head gasket or a f250 lol. and its a gas job ahhhhhh but anyways what do you think could have blown the head gasket, my dad thinks its the tuners fault, but for the longest time it was only on stage 1, i have a hypertec tuner, with intake and exhaust, what do you guy think could have done it,? or is it just that common, and is there any upgraded ones you can put in? and also what would you guy think it would cost, the shops says around 3k?

and it hasnt been seeming to burn any white smoke, i havnt seen any, if any its been alittle black puff but its always done that
