looking to buy a torque plate, wheres the best place to get it

im looking at buying a torque plate.. i like the one socal sells.. i was woundering what eles was out there.. i did a google search and it was pretty much pointless.. any info would be great

A gentleman I work closely with machines them, they are not fancy but fully functional and are cheaper... pm. Me for info

He's asking about a torque plate, not a flex plate. It bolts to the deck surface during machining to simulate the forces in the block when a head is torqued down. It helps prevent bore distortion caused by head studs.

My question is is it absolutely needed? I know plenty of people who don't do it and are perfectly fine including myself maybe in all out 1000+ builds that plan to run and race at 1000+ but for us 700-900 hp guys whats the big deal. Do studs truly distort that bad?

im going to ask my good friend whos an engine builder... hes built pulling tractors engines for years along with other engines... im sure to each thier own...
