I'm considering trying an s369sxe. I've experienced turbos in the past that were lazy and it drove me nuts, yet many claim bw has made quite the stride in the newer sxe stuff. So, I have stock fuel, 1078 converter from evan, and I tow 15k on weekends. My 3794 I have tows awesome, I just have always wanted to try a fixed vane. Can the 69 make boost at 1800rpms? I rarely tow below that.. I know it's going to be more lazy than the 3794, but just how lazy?

I personally have never gone from a VGT to a fix vane, but know from changing turbos that you will not be able to drive the truck the same way. Yes you can tow with a S369, I do it, but it likes RPM to keep the boost up and EGTs down. 5th gear @ 50-60 mph is where I hate mine, a tapshifter would make it better if you can force it hold to 4th gear, but towing in slow high way traffic is never fun for me. Granted I am running a Custom .83 AR housing and don't know if a .91ar housing would flow better in that situation.

I went with the 73 I think?.. I asked whomever at wehrli about it, but honestly he didnt shed too much light on things. I'm half tempted to see if I can talk to Jason and maybe get a more solid opinion being it takes 15-20 days to build the kit.

I had the s369sxe and did tow with it. As said before to keep the egts down it liked more rpm and was a bit laggy down low. Granted I am on stock injectors and stock stall converter. I sold the s369sxe and put in a Danville 68stg2r and I LOVE the Danville turbo. I think it’s a lot more fun to drive and I missed the turbo brake when I was towing. I do have a video of me stabbing the skinny pedal from a dig in 2wd with the s369sxe, but not the Danville. I should do that to compare. If you wanna see the video send me a pm with your number and I can text it to you.

My buddy has the 68stg2r, I got to drive it and experience it. I'm willing to give up spool, I just wanted to tow somewhat comfortably. I'm just hoping I dont put in the 64.5 and think to myself it lights pretty dang easy and I could have went with the 66. I guess once I swap over, changing the compressor side wouldnt be too hard. Not a ton of info on these chargers to be found honestly.

It's really hard to beat a VGT for towing and daily driving. I would consider twins and keeping the VGT before going to a fixed vane turbo.

Im honestly not too worried about spool for towing. I'm honestly wondering if a guy should have gotten the 1.0ar housing to free up the exhaust side a bit. Time will tell. Atleast once its all done and if I decide to change something its alot easier than removing a vgt etc...
