Hey guys i'm looking at an lb7 for another farm truck/son's first truck. I had a few questions and hopefully you guys can help.

1. I am aware of the injectors issues, which is why I first purchased an LLY. I was wondering if the problem is with the setup of the LB7, or is it just the factory injectors. I was wondering if something like 20% over aftermarkets would cure it or am I looking at replacing them every 100k or so.

2. I have heard that its easier to remove the engine to replace these. Is that true?? Also do you have to pull the engine to replace the down pipe??

I can help answer number one, the problem is not just the factory injectors, so aftermarkets or 20 overs wont help, my lb7 has 165,000 miles on it and is still on its 1st set of injectors so i wouldnt buy a lly instead just because of the injector issue, and an lb7 will get better mileage and doesnt have any of that emissions crap on it.

as for number 2 no you dont have to remove the engine to change the injectors, they are just under the valve covers. Not sure about the down pipe

Once you buy an LB7 you will want to trade your LLY :D

I just bought an LB7 that had a bad injector. The previous owner was selling it because, in his words, "This truck was perfect until it hit 140,000 miles, when the first injector went out. now it has 180,000 and it's had 13 injectors replaced and needs another one." Sounded like a motivated seller to me. The injector wasn't that hard to replace, there was just a lot of stuff in the way. Then I put on a lift pump, a 2 micron fuel filter, and started adding two stroke oil to my fuel. Will it help? I don't know but it can't hurt!

well kinda sorta your right... good luck getting the bolts out with the trans in. it can be done but it is definitly easier to takt the bolts out when the trans is outta the way and you can get under with a breaker bar and cheater pipe especially if they are original bolts and havent been touched.there isnt a whole lot of room back there but there is enough.

I wasn't thinking bigger turbo, just free it up a little more. I might give it a shot, i just don't want the hassle with pulling anything.

You dont have to pull motor or trans to perform these tasks.

X2, You don't have to pull the motor to change the injectors although once the engine is on the ground it makes life much easier, you also don't have to pull the motor to change the down pipe, pulling the passenger exhaust manifold will make it easier to remove. also helps when changing out the starter
