Logging Vane Table

I spent some time logging my vane table today, and I used the results to update my tune. I did approx a 45mins of logging in all kinds of driving. Looking at my "n" I have areas where I have hundreds and hundreds of data points, but I also have some areas where I might just have a few or none.

I took the data and pasted it to my tune, then smoothed a little. Not only did it make for better response, but it got rid of a problem that I was having; if I suddenly snapped the throttle WFO the truck would die, figure itself out, and then after a pause it would take off. Now it just drops a gear and goes; YES!

So, as happy as I am... this is my first attempt and I am not sure how much data is enough to log? I'll gladly go out and spend all day if needed, but if I have enough then I'm happy now to waste that time.

Here's a shot of my data point count. What do you all think?

Thanks in advance!
Wally

You have plenty of data. One thing I also looked at was how much the vanes swung open and closed. Now they swing a lot to begin with, but I feel you want to minimize anything unnecessary.

Could you explain how to do that? I don't understand how I can reduce the amount of times they adjust  Hopefully by applying my logging, I can reduce the difference between the tune and the "readjustment", but I don't understand exactly what you mean.

Thanks!

Your not really changing amount of times they adjust but that they do so smoothly and evenly. I can't say that by looking at a log I can tell where the adjustment need to be made to do so, but it was more trial and error.

I have my tune posted in the library, so if you want to try out the vane tables on it. Go for it see how it works for you.

I'm no tuning gruru and self taught so maybe someone else will chime in. And really I don't know that it matters a whole lot what you do with the target vane table aslong as you don't go crazy.
