i need to know the location of the wastegate on a early 2007 gmc 6.6L duramax diesel engine. when i step on the gas it emits black smoke & has no power,the turbo seems to be working.

It doesn't have a wastegate. It came with a Variable Vain Turbo, and the pressure is controlled by the vains in the turbo.
thinking EGR vlv... that would be thre reason for lake of power at random times and black smoke..
it cuts exhuast from the system pre-turbo... thus making the turbo less effective/responsive

right side right next to the turbo its ~2" dia and ~6" long runs form the back ofthe engine to the front.. most likley have to pull the intake pipe out to
