So long story short. Bought a truck down south brought it home to ny put a new battery in it to help with cold starts up north. Everything ran and charged great. I went to Florida for a week vacation to come back and truck is completely dead. I put a big charger 40 amp charge on it for 25 mins went out to start and truck dash lights were flickering on and off and making weird noises. Tried starting and wouldn't even turn over. So i put it on 200 start and figured that ought to start it right away and nothing. I haven't had a chance to check fuses but is there some weird computer safety thing when the batteries go dead to prevent damage to anything? Sorry for long post just kinda lost on weird symptoms.

It was late last night so didn't do an extensive trouble shooting. Battery connections are tight and good. My main concern is how it was doing really weird things like dash lights flickering on and off and the engine light waiting for glow plugs didn't seem to work right. I plugged truck in this morning when I left for work to warm it up some. Would this have anything to do with the BCM?

I've had a LMM do it do to loss of battery voltage, going in and out, like it was having trouble carrying the amperage or load being drawn.

Ya thats very similar to how this was acting. What did you do to fix it? Just let it trickle charge for a full day ? Also wondering about electrical problem that caused the dead battery. I did a little searching and found others that have had lmm have a draw or computer problems that always draw a little amperage and kill batteries.

You mentioned putting a new battery in it, was that one or both? Have you disconnected both batteries and tested them? Sounds like you are low on voltage.

Yes it had two original batteries that were only 600 cca so I took both out and put in a 1000 cca interstate battery and taped the positive lead to the second battery and I didn't have problems for a week or two. It started right up without plugging it in at night.

Right now I have a brand new battery I put in like two weeks ago. Ran the truck for a week on battery and ran good, cranked over good even with single digit temps. Then gone on vacation for a week come back and stone dead and went to jump it and acted real weird

Yes one battery! Still weird symptoms last night as well. I put the battery back in the truck. I had it out to put on trickle charge all day to make sure it was taking a charge, all checked out fine. Once I put it back in the try to start truck the dash went nuts and bunch of,noises. Guess it will sit til weekend where I can dig deeper.

Well a little update but still a big headache. Put a second battery in the truck and had to use jump pack and finally got truck started. It ran real rough at first and smoothed itself out. Ran the truck for an hour or so went and filled it up and then parked it. Went to start the next morning and had dead batteries
