alright everyone i have a possibility of putting together a few engines and need to poll the audience. i have the option to buy 4 lml/lgh engines. they came from ambulances so I'm leaning towards the lgh. i know 2 of them have bad cp4 pumps, 1 was wrecked and busted front accessories and oil pan. the 4th.....good short block. now i have a few lmm and lab engines that we have bought as cores with broke cranks or cracked pistons that the customers have replaced.

my question is.......

1. would you take these lgh engines and clean the injectors and lines and do a cp3 conversion?

2. just put a new cp4 back on them and keep them complete?

3. use the good lml short block and make a lbz/lmm with my other parts?

or is there a option that I'm not thinking about? i know the guys that have lml trucks that convert to cp3 love them. but I'm not sure its worth the money to invest to convert it here then wait around till someone needs it.

I'm open to options and input. let me know what you vote!

thanks

If it was mine, I would do option #1.

I just got done doing an injector and fuel line cleaning job on my vw tdi with a failed CP4.1. Wasn't hard to clean out the lines and injectors.

Will be doing a cp3 conversion soon on my tdi

I'd button them up and sell as long blocks with no fuel system.

What's a 100k mile lml/lgh long block worth? Then injectors either as cores or send them to make sure they are clean and work?

I will also be getting 3 6l90 2wd trans in the deal. I believe all 3 have been replaced with genuine gm units so they are less than 100k

What is your intention with the motors after rebuild? If you are building for a personal vehicle the I would def do cp3 conversion. However, if selling them to someone I wouldn't do the conversion. A CP3 conversion will require tuning it's not just plug and play and I doubt the majority of people looking for a stock rebuild motor will be interested in the added expense/hassle of getting the tuning right. Selling as long block w/ no fuel system sounds like the best/easiest solution if you want to move these fast with little headache
