I've recently been having some issues with my lml that surprise surprise the dealer can't find the problem. I was going to the keystone nationals with my brother and a friend while en route to pick our friend up we both started smelling diesel in the cab very strong smell of it got to my friends and the truck was making a weird whining noise almost like a old gas motor with a gear drive for a timing chain. we lift the hood little huffs of smoke coming from the downpipe area and the truck has absolutely no balls I've been complaining to the dealer about this for awhile anyways. go to keystone come back drop it off at dealer they have it two days cant find an issue or leak gm says the truck is operating a-ok. I also drive a 2012 LML reg cab to and from work and plow with it all winter and the truck is an absolute rocket compared to mine mind you it has 100gallons of diesel in a tank in the bed tools etc etc. took the truck out last night same issue reaked of diesel when I got home throttle response was like there was a rag over the intake its going back to the dealer again tomorrow just wondering if anyone else has had these issues

Have you had the oil pump done under warrenty yet?

no I haven't tim and mike I've thought about it but the said dealer owns the four closest gm dealers in my state closest one is over an hour away and my old man had bad luck with them in years past. I planned on tuning the truck but not anymore

Good luck man..if there's no codes the dealer always seems to be blind to the problem. Westboro GMC up by me is typically pretty good but hopefully it doesn't come to that

I know there is a bulletin/recall on the injection pump and an updated clamp for the downpipe. See if they will pull the pressure regulator and check the screen on the bottom for metal. There is a lot of them going bad around here. My son works in the parts dept at the dealer so I get to here all the juicy gossip:thumb:

the updated clamp and metallic gasket doesn't stop excess raw fuel from stinking up the cab. The reburn injector is a common failure too and can hang open. If not under warranty it is only a mere $1100 fix

the clamp idea was for the puffs of smoke. Slims '11 would get so bad it looked like there was a fire under the hood, actually had an officer pull him over to check it out. His pump also quit, he complained that it wouldn't pull itself out of a water puddle and now after the new pump and updates he loves it, tows with it almost every day. Just trying to offer some suggestions. A bad injection pump will put out raw diesel and cause that smell in the cab. We had that.

I had a problem with my clamp. During regens. It would smell up the cab with raw fuel and drip on the ground. It always ran good though. I repositioned the clamp and all is well.

We have a bulletin saying that after an oil change you may here a click or tapping sound like a typewritter sound and the bulletin says its completely normal and do not pursue the issue. Iv had a few customers come in with the complaint but I cant just go yanking it apart unless they do a lot of complaining. I just print the bulletin and send them on their way. Kinda shabby but nothing i can do about it.

And yes the indirect injector at the bottom of the down pipe has a lot of failures. I replace a few on a weekly basis.
