LML piston rings interchangable?

anyone know if LML piston rings are interchangable? or specific to the LML piston?

They are interchangeable. Ring lands are the same dimensions as previous duramax pistons. My LML pistons have mahle 41909 piston rings on them.

Since everything else seems cheaper for the LML internal's I am assuming the Rings are aswell?

I thought they were till i did a bit of research. Unfortunatly, not so lucky with that. Price is the same on all years. Damn it!

Im in the hunt for rings and had hopes since piston and rods were cheap for the lml, so were rings but not so lol.

If you look it up in the parts book GM shows the same part number for std. bore LLY and LML rings. However, they show 0.020 overbore pistons and ring sets for an LLY, but the LML shows something like 0.025 overbore pistons and rings. And they are different part numbers. Maybe the listing is incorrect....?? I don't know. Just something I discovered while digging.

LML pistons are labeled as .50mm overbore which is .196in. So I'd say the listing is wrong.

Ive thought about it. I just dont want to spend the money on machining my rods down to do it
